Our Mission
The movement of bringing students, faculty, alumni and friends of JWU together to hone their bread skills and serve the community.
The History of Operation PLB
Every fall the Chefs of Johnson & Wales University take work to the New York Food Show to put on display. October of 2012 was no different as Chef Mitch Stamm and others were preparing their bread pieces for the show tragedy struck when Hurricane Sandy touched down leaving thousands of people with nothing. It was this day that changed everything, deciding to help those in our community of Rhode Island Chef canceled his part in the food show and opened a lab at school for students to come in a bake bread for those who were impacted by the hurricane. On this day we baked approximately 400 loaves of bread. Seeing how grateful the community was and knowing how many people we could help Operation: Peace, Love & Bread was born. Now the club meets once or twice a month to get together and bake anywhere from 200-400 loaves of bread for a charity in out area. It may only be a drop in the bucket but we are helping one less person go to bed hungry.
