All of us at Operation PLB were thrilled that Johnson & Wales hosted competitors from the Bread Baker's Guild of America. There were nine bakers competing over the weekend, in hopes to make it on Team USA in the World Cup 2016. Teams will be chosen in March, and train for a year and a half until the competition. One of the judges, Solveig Tofte, was on Team USA in 2008. When asked how her experience was when she competed she stated "It was the hardest thing I have ever done, but the best thing I have ever done". She explains how she loves the baking industry because of the type of people you meet and the challenge it brings. One of the challengers, Sheldon Heath, comes from a very small town in California. When asked how he got involved in the competition he said "just by watching, I decided to sign up". We can't wait for the competitors to return in March for the finals!!
